spring time in hill country Texas

It was a beautiful day here in the Texas, so we decided to go on a short road trip thru the Hill Country. The bluebonnets are starting to decorate the roads and the fields.  The air is warm and the nights are cool, its spring nirvana here in Austin.  So, we packed lunch, got the kids in the car and we ventured out blasting a little Bob Schneider on the radio.

The rain has helped paint the trees a deeper shade of green, and we are starting to see less brown tones. Its usually really dry here, so we happily welcome spring rain.  Today as we were taking our drive we got to see Longhorns up-close. Of course I took out my camera and began to photograph these majestic creatures. I tell ya, those horns are impressive.

Bluebonnets grow wild here & they covered the ground in a beautiful blue blanket.  Naturally, I asked the hubs to pull over, so that I could snap a couple of pictures.

Okay so maybe we pulled over way too many times, but these wild flowers are just an amazing sight.  I just can’t get over the variety of flowers & colors that grow wild. Red poppy is my favorite wild flower; it has this amazing bright red color with a black center, such a pretty flower.
