Yesterday we had our annual Christmas Cookie decorating Party.

Christmas break has just begun they kids are going stir crazy inside and the mommas are too. It’s way too early to be drinking wine and you are desperately looking for something to do.  Here is an idea: Host a Christmas Cookie Decorating party!  Learn how I pulled off this last minute party, with the help of all of my besties!

Yesterday we had our annual Christmas Cookie decorating Party.

Tips

Here are a couple of tips to help you get started:

  • Ask someone to volunteer & open up their home to host the party.
  • Make a sign up sheet of all the goodies that you need for your party; so that everyone brings something.
  • Buy/gather all the decorations.  (check out the end of our post for where to shop this post).

I decided to do a red and white party. Because I host & style so many events, I had some left over decorations that we recycled. We hung up some paper fans, covered the tables and added details.                   My big tip here is: Shop around your home first.

  • I used my red table runners.
  • We covered the table with some brown paper.
  • We borrowed a Santa Cookie Jar (for the center piece)
  • Used cupcake tin pans and Cupcake liners to hold the sprinkles.
  • The paper plates doubled as decor and individual cookie decoration area.
  • I invested in red/white paper fans.

I used all of these cute stuff to style our cookie decorating table, the food table and the hot cocoa bar. We kept the party very simple, by paying attention to the smaller details, the party was still very beautiful and functional. It was so much fun! ….and we pulled it off in just ONE day of planning!! You can do this!

Meet the amazing women that I call my Besties. We were missing three others at this party; all of them are such  a blessing. We find any excuse to party and hang out -I believe a “laundry party” and a “drink up Bitches” parties are both in the works. We do life and community together…the good, the bad and the ugly.

For this particular party… we began texting, everyone signed up to bring something and this is what we came up with!  They know me so well by now, they always bring their goodies in white platters.  They know I will move things around and style any table, at any event! love them!    Tip: ask your guests to bring their goodies in white platters, if they have them. Having all white platters gives a cohesive look to any party.

Once the ladies and I had everything set up, the kids got come in and have some decorating fun! We handed each child a cookie and they got their messy on.

Here are a few tips that will make your life easier:

  • Have two “work areas” we had two cupcake tin pans on both sides of the tables with the same types of sprinkles.
  • Spread out the cupcake liners. This makes it easier for their little hands.
  • I also used the larger cupcake liners; it helped keep the sprinkles in their designated liner
  • Use a plastic fork for the frosting, so that kids can do it on their own.

If you are trying to keep things within a reasonable budget, here is a great idea. Instead of buying Christmas cups, simply buy white cups and decorate them with stickers!
