Guestroom

The holidays are creeping up on us slowly; just yesterday I saw a Christmas tree on sale at Costco.  There were presents for the kiddos, gift wrapping and all sorts of holiday decor.  Before you know it, you will have house guests ringing the door bell looking for a place to stay. Is your house ready?   In light of the approaching season,  I wanted to share a some tips on how to make your guest room more welcoming and comfortable for your guests.

MINIMILIZE YOUR SPACE

Guestroom

You don’t have to completely remodel your space to make your guests feel welcomed. I believe you can make a couple of changes, add a couple of details and bring in some textures – and that, will be enough to make your space, welcoming and comfortable. Also, making the room less personalized and more minimal, helps provide an ambience of relaxation. Think about your favorite hotel room – its usually decorated in light colors with a couple of pieces here and there to make your stay very comfy.

CHOOSING TEXTURES

Textures, textures, textures. There is no better way to bring life to a space than by adding textures. In fact, by changing or updating of your bedding and adding a couple of new decorative pillows –  you can bring new life to your guest room. Textures are a great way to bring light airy colors, set a specific mood (in this case a relaxed setting) and a great way to make a room feel warm and welcoming.

THE DETAILS

There are a couple of small details to consider – when hosting guests.

  1. Leave your wifi password for them to use on their electronics.
  2. Have an outlet available for them to recharge their devices.
  3. Provide a chair or a luggage rack, for them to place their bags
  4. A couple of snack items and a couple of water bottles are always great to have in the room.

I like to provide my guests with a GUEST WELCOME CART. I leave the cart full of snacks, goodies, water, extra towels and a couple of other details that they might enjoy. Check out my Guest Welcome Cart by clicking on the link.

ITS THE LITTLE THINGS

Guestroom

Paying attention to small details, like leaving a nice smelling candle in the guest-room and even guest bathroom – is a great way to make your guests feel like you thought about them. A fresh scented candle can make a room very comfy;  leaving one in a bathroom, can make your guests feel more comfortable about being there.

Fresh and clean bedding is always a must. Provide an extra throw blanket, just in case your guests would like to use one. Extra pillows are a nice touch.  Another nice detail is providing a small plate or basket for them to place their small personal belongings . ex. jewelry, watches, wallets…

Last, but not least, give them some closet space with a couple of hangers to hang dressy clothes or coats.

I hope that you have enjoyed reading about the small changes you can make to have your guests feel welcomed in your home. I hope that it inspires and that you can put some of these tips to good use +maybe even share them with a friend or too. Please feel free to share this post.  I hope that you have found it helpful.
