For the love of coffee
I am a coffee-a-holic ya’ll! I have a passionate love affair with a good, strong cup of espresso. It could be the Caribbean girl in me; I remember as a child, having my grandmother fill my bottles with coffee and milk….mmm, I still remember the smell of freshly brewed coffee in her kitchen. She grew her own coffee beans, roasted them over a zinc board, that were placed under the sun. Then, she would grind them in her manual grinder. Its no wonder I am obsessed, I have always associated coffee with great memories.
With that said, it should come as no surprise to learn that we have coffee bar in the middle of our small the kitchen. We removed a large kitchen cabinet and opened up a little corner dedicated to my coffee addiction & I have the awesomest espresso machine ever. If you want to read all about that renovation adventure click here. …and ya’ll, an espresso machine produces a lot of coffee grounds! a lot!!!
Coffee Grounds
So, I’m on a mission to find good uses for them. Besides using the grounds in my garden, I love using them to make scrubs!
got coffee grounds?? make this face scrub
here is what you will need:
- 4 heaping tablespoons of coffee grounds
- metal scoop
- 2-3 tablespoons of honey
- small glass jar with lid
- spoon to mix
- cute labels
Here is how to make the scrub:
Scoop 4 heaping tablespoons of coffee grounds into an empty jar
then add about 2 tablespoons of honey
mix the honey and coffee grounds with a spoon.
make sure you have a slightly runny consistency. add more honey if needed (but not too runny).
I use this scrub three times a week on my face and neck. It makes my skin feel more firm and brighter.
I like to place the mixture in small glass jars for easy (last minute) gifting. These cute printable tags make the jar even prettier.
